Nikon LS 2000

I just got a Nikon LS scanner & need the latest software or is there a better one than 
Nikon? I can't seem to find a way to update nikon scan 2.5  to 3.1 from nikon site (yes, I 
know I'm behind the times).

 I DLed what I thought was the update, but can not make heads nor tails of it. Nothing that 
says 3.1 update. I have updated windoz programs before with no problems & have been 
using computers for 16 yrs...but this escapes me.

I admit to not being a windoz geek..OS basically makes no sense to me, files all over the 
place for no good reason.
