I am impressed with Digital ICE.  I don't know if you use it, but Vuescan also uses the IR channel the 2740S scans for dust and scratch removal - you might try it out.

Any opinions of Digital ICE? Myself...I am reasonably impressed.

I recently started to use this in a 2740S and, despite the manufacturers' slightly exaggerated publicity blurb, I am moderately satisfied that Applied Science Fiction's efforts go a good way toward addressing the scanner's fixation with the removal of dust, blemishes, etc. on old slides. A good  investment, but much more to be researched in this area... At this point in time to be recommended!
