larger flatbed scanners?

I'm looking to buy a flatbed scanner for home use that is larger than the 
typical 8.5x14" scanner. 
 
One use will be to scan printed music, which is usually sized larger than letter 
size but smaller than 11x17". 
 
All scans will be for fair use, not to infringe on any copyrights. 
 
All the large scanners (roughly 11x17") that I've found thus far cost well over 
$1000. I'd rather spend half that, if I can. 
 
Any thoughts?
