All I can seem to get is an actual 1:1 645 image in the preview
window....OK yes, I can "Zoom-in" and get a very much pixellated
image..Anyone got any clues?/

I have been using vuescan with the epson 2450.
My solution:
After the PRESCAN, select the image, and with the file save turned off,
SCAN at an appropriate dpi or auto dpi. Do what is necessary in this SCAN,
then reset the dpi, turn on file save, or use the save.
May sound complicated but is really quite easy.

I must say that I find this scanner more than adequate when using medium
format/large format and printing within the limitations of an epson 1270. I
find this scanner has given me a breath of fresh air.

Hope my experience helps.
