Minolta DS Multi II to G4 problem

My SCSI Minolta DS Multi II, after running on a Mac 8100 for over a 
year, was transferred to a G4 tower running OS X.1.2 and connected to an 
Apple-installed ATTO SCSI-2 card. Couldn't see it directly using DS 
Multi2 utility or as plug-in through PS6. Both generated prompt "Could 
not confirm scanner connection . ...

Changed SCSI numbers, updated drivers, and re-starting in 9.2 didn't 
help. Hooking up to Orange SCSI to USB converter with up-to-date drivers 
didn't help.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
