RE: Kodak RFS3600 scanner

All the cheap SS4000 are sold, which is why I suggested getting the
Artixscan 4000t. Same scanner.

I don't think you will get ICE like features with Vuescan. Anyone really
thinking about scanning negatives should just go buy a scanner with ICE. You
will never be happy with all the roller scratches the cheap C41 labs give
you. If you are going E6, find a good lab and ICE won't be needed.

Loading negative strips into the SS4000 or 4000t is quite a pain in the ass!
I don't know if other scanners are any easier. Yet another reason to go with
slides. If you trust Phil Lippencots (sp) comment about film grain, slide
film grain is about 1/4 the area of print film grain, so 4000ppi on slide
film makes sense. He was suggesting there is merit to 8000ppi, which could
be true on TMX. One more generation of Provia 100 and you might need 8000ppi
on color slide film. Anyway, for C41, it may be better to get an old Nikon
with ICE on ebay since it doesn't need the higher resolution.
