RE: Kodak RFS3600 scanner

I looked at one once when I was trying to decide on a scanner. It looks
cheap. I did not like the way the film was put into the scanner. No holders
to me means a chance for bowing, etc.. The scans were not very impressive. If
you want a good scanner for a small price try to get your hands on a
Polaroid 4000. You should be able to pick one up for not any more than
600.00 dollars. If you need Ice or Ice like functions in your software you
could try Vuescan with the Polaroid (The Polaroid software has an Ice like
function) or buy an older Nikon 2000 or IV. when the RF3600 came out I heard
a great deal of complaining. There is also another possibility Acer 2740. My
brother has one and thinks it is OK. Maybe not the very best but certainly
better in quality than the Kodak. Here is a web page which discusses it

These are my thoughts. Good Luck,

Don't do it. Get either the Coolscan IV or a Minolta Multi II off Ebay.<<<

John,

I'm trying to balance the price to highest resolution. Whats the problem
with Kodak?

Thanks,

Joe
