RE: Suitable Film Scanners.

B&H has the Artixscan 4000t for $800. [A no-name vendor has it for $755 on
cnet, but I'd go with B&H.] Not the same deal as the SS4000, but then again
Microtek isn't bankrupt. [I'm sure you know, but just in case you don't it
is the same scanner. Microtek made the ss4000 for Polaroid.] Incidentally,
although the adverts say the microtek has an 8000ppi interpolated mode, I
never got it to come up.

You may want to call the big mail order stores and see if they have any
returned SS4000s.

Just as a review, the 4 big price search engines are"
www.pricewatch.com
www.pricescan.com
www.pricegrabber.com
www.shopper.com

and there is always www.shopping.yahoo.com (I generally don't find good
deals on yahoo, but have used Crazy Eddie once.]
