I've worn soft contacts at various times over the years. They're wonderful inventions. But the reason I'm not wearing them now and in the past have had to stop is that I'm in an environment that will kill my vision if I keep wearing them. Soft contacts HAVE to be gas and fluid permeable to allow air and tears to get to the eye. Which as a practical mater makes them sponges for both gases and liquids. When in an environment where vapors or dust tends to be common then you should get them out fast. Otherwise they'll absorb the vapors and hold them against your eye. Not good. With dust they (both soft and hard) tend to trap particles against the eye and over a while dig a ditch from the shifting of the lenses as you blink. Currently I do a lot of slow remodeling on my 40 year old house and the dust generated keeps them out. Maybe in a year or two I can go back. In the past I've been in high (compared to clean air) vapor areas and had to give them up also. byard pidgeon wrote: > > Are there any common problems with wearing contact lenses in the darkroom? - Turn off HTML mail features.
