RE: Levels & Curves

Don't even think of a camcorder still for fine photography. I certainly
don't. However, there are many times I need low grade photos to communicate
or document something, need it right away, and only need half a dozen
photos.

Think of it this way. Unless you have little kids, exactly how much does a
camcorder get used? Now if you have a low grade still function built into
it, it will be used quite a bit more IF you don't already have a digital
camera. From a marketing standpoint, these new combination still/video
cameras fill a niche. If you are mailing photos around, 1.3Mpixel is already
on the big side.

Let just say I'm not tossing out the 35mm camera and film scanner just yet.
Also, I'm not buying a digital camera every year just to keep up with
progress, knowing that they still won't be as good as a 35mm camera plus
film scanning for at least a decade, maybe longer.

BTW, a shutter speed of 1/500th should be fine for most photography, so I
don't understand that complaint. I shoot airplanes with a 400mm telephoto
all the time at 1/500th, albeit with body panning.
