Hi Art: I also crave a "1 stop solution", a nice digital videocam with decent still capability. Alas, for me, at least, it is not yet here! The videocam CCD is NOT designed for optimizing still images, and in any to date (Optura 100 MC, Sony TRV-30) the print limit without pixelation seems to be about 5 x 7, but with many more artifacts than with ANY moderately priced still digital camera. Also, the slow shutter speed was a problem. Alas, it was a bitter disappointment! OTOH, IF modest size Prints will suffice, and they will not be critically examined, they are FUN, lightweight toys! :-) Jack Winberg At 10:22 PM 12/29/01 -0800, you wrote: >I'd be interested in how the still function on the video camera compares >to cheaper ($200 US) digital cameras, I've been to the videocam result >is very inferior, but have no firsthand experience to compare. > >Art > >gary wrote: > > > More than a bit off topic, but I am looking at a Canon Optura 100MC. > You get > > a nice camcorder (miniDV) and a low res digital camera at the same > time.
