Took delivery of a 2450 this morning. Initial impressions are very positive. I have a super coolscan for my 35mm work but needed something for medium format and 5x4. I can't afford an 8000 (it doesn't do 5x4 anyway). 6x4.5 negs at 2400dpi are scanning in about 8 minutes (PC PII 300 - 256mgb ram - usb ). Using the 48bit setting and scanning into photoshop6 with vuescan is producing very smooth histograms. The Epson software is as clunky as ever. The scans don't appear as sharp as the nikon LS1000 but then they aren't as noisy either. So they respond to USM in Photoshop and produce lovely smooth crisp files for the Epson 1270. I'm happy so far. -- Dave Stubbs - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short. Use accurate subject lines. http://www.leben.com/lists for list instructions.
