Bill, the scratch is on the plastic side (ie non-emulsion side). It
is overtly visibile to the naked eye, however if I put the neg into my
enlarger it would most likely not show up via diffusion type enlarger
or at the worst case--> a little bit of oil from my fingers into the
scratch would do the trick. However, I was surprised that via the film
scanner, everything shows up on the scan--thus it's nice to have the
ICE.
One tangent, the 35mm color negs--> scan great thus far. I just
scanned my 35mm pano color neg via the glass carrier--bottomline, no
newton rings or anything like that but I assume because of the glass,
you get this overt bluish color cast on the initial scan. However,
the software allows you to specify if your using a glass carrier via
glassless. Obviously I chose glass, but it just came out bluish and
with decreased contrast--I was able to improve it via photoshop, however
it just doesn't have the vibrancy of a glassless scan. Bottomline,
I think I'm going to have to just make a mask.
Take care. Harry
