yap..My PC has  P -IV (Intel) processor,and VIA Motherboard with AC 97
card.Currently I have linux 8.0. From last 2 years I am trying to configure
my sound card using redhat 7.0,8.0 but furstrated.
                        same thing about my D-link inbuilt Modem.I searched
over net, but the information is too confusing.

autodetection should work for all pci cards supported by the kernel.
Do you have more specific information?
