I haven't been following this thread, so apologies if I'm off-track
here, but aren't you trying to install a package which provides
libgtk.so? In which case why are you trying to install rep-gtk which
provides the GTK bindings for rep, a lisp-like language used by Sawfish
(the windowmanager)? On my machine:

$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libgtk.so
gtk+-devel-1.2.10-25.ximian.6.48

Naturally my version is from Ximian because I'm using XD2, but
installing shrike's gtk+-devel will install libgtk.so for you.
