I have shared a printer with CUPS,

On RH9, the printer configuration utility has networked CUPS (IPP) as a queue type, does RH8 have the same feature? I don't see it.

No, but on the Red Hat Linux 9 machine you can enable 'LPD protocol' in the sharing properties screen. Then it appears as a normal UNIX LPD printer queue to clients that are not IPP-aware.

the server running the CUPS printer share is on RH7.2, any chance you know how to enable the LPD protocol on the command line?
I'll go look in the CUPS manual also.

thanks
