I've probably done roughly 60 network based installes since RHL9 became 
available.  Most of them are PXE boot/kickstart based, pulling content over 
NFS.  We haven't had any issues.  What is this "boot.iso" image you speak of?  
We used the first CD a few times, before I got PXE setup, and later we used 
the vmlinuz and initrd.img files provided on the first CD for PXE booting.
