Hopefully this will clear things up: -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [redhat.com #44596] Discussion of Red Hat Enterprise line on Phoebe Mailing List From: "Ivanna Sudin via RT" <europe@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, March 28, 2003 9:30 am To: whooperhsd2@xxxxxxxxxxxxx For example, this is a correct statement that I took from the list that you sent me: - There are no RHN subscriptions for RHEL products but rather RHEN subscriptions. - The price of the annual subscription is the price of the products. Therefore RHELWS with one year subscription is either <BASIC> $179 + $179 per year OR <STANDARD> $299 the first year, $299 the second year, etc. but definitely NOT $179 + $60 per year. Now let's get back to the real question, why do you need RHEL WS. The price is targeted to highly technical/ industrial workstations, for use in applications such as CAD, Paradigm, Landmark, and also for engineering and software development. It seems to me by reading, people are getting upset and confuse between RHL9 and RHEL WS. If people only need to use their desktop for office use, then RHL9 will be enough. So major corporations will not choke on the pricing. Hope that clarify some issues...
