Re: Still no icons

To clarify, I believe may be a 3rd party application, or a feature, and
it mirrors rawhide from Red Hat. So in theory, he is using Red Hat's
rawhide. So how he got rawhide's packages isn't relavent, as long as
the packages weren't changed and are the same as if he/she got them from
rawhide.
Hey Mike,

No mistaking there. I know fedora (cool tool, no doubt). But as i outlined in the other big mail i send out i ment to say that rawhide is experimental, and your very lucky if it works. If it doesnt, we don't know why, because rawhide is not made to work! It takes a engineering process to combine all those rawhide packages to a working distro.. something that is more dificult and time consuming then most of us here can or want to do.

The second point i tried to make, is that with the above in mind, this is the wrong place to go with rawhide/fedora problems. Redhad does not 'endorse' fedora, so even though it updates to rawhide, it could do something unexpected and lead to weird results that redhat engineers do not know off and can not fix (nor is it their place). Secondly rawhide has it's own mailing lists, so why ask on the phoebe list?

Third i get very pissed off that people let Bill believe that he should / could update to rawhide, and expect a booting & working system! People should not just say 'update to rawhide package' without saying 'expect to whipe your HD's and blow up everything else', or atleast the rawhide faq's ;-)

So my not-so-friendly tone in the original email was not cause by anything Bill said or did, but the general situation with this mailing list.

Using fedora or rawhide only creates more chatter and more un-relevant bugs for the RH engineers to deal with, making it harder to descern real issues and costs redhat time and money.. thus having a negative impact, if anything, on the resulting redhat release.

Now what good does this do to anybody?!
