993 as listed in /etc/services
And I only punched a whole through the firewall for port 993, I can't
even connect via port 143 from localhost. Why would anyone put imaps on
port 143..that has to break some things.

All i did to enable the imaps port was run "chkconfig imaps on"
which set "disabled = no" in the xinetd imaps config file..then i
restarted xinetd service.

It just worked..evolution warned me about the selfsigned cert on first
connection to my imaps server, and ive been using it for about a week
now..no problems.
