bad CRC 9695f189, would leaad me to believe that the file is in fact corrupt
or there is bad sector on the disk you are writing to, I would also check
the man pages and use the -t flag while extracting as well.

-t     test  archive files.  This option extracts each specified file in
memory and compares the CRC (cyclic redundancy check, an enhanced checksum)
of the expanded file
              with the original file’s stored CRC value.
