Not only does it drive one batty, it almost always leads to one of those why didn't I think of that moments.

One other thing.  At one time Adobe was good about upgrades.   It didn't matter how old your version of Photoshop was, as long as it was legal you could upgrade it to the full version.  Not so anymore.  Now after a period of time, if you want to get the current version, you have to buy the full version again if you are upgrading from a version older than their cut off.  If you can get version 6 upgraded, you might want to do it now.

Not having it in front of me (and being in a different version) might you be able to find a command to 'load brushes' either in the brush drop down or in the brush palette fly-out menu?

If you can find access to it, this should allow you the option to load the default brushes back into the program.

Don't problems like this just make you batty? Well, they do me for sure.
