I've recently been concerned about many underexposed photos I've made
using the D300 and and SB800. Here is a sample shot:

The SB800 was set to Remote, Channel 1, Group A.
The flash control for built-in flash of the D300 was set to Commander mode, Built-in flash --, Group A, Compensation 0, Channel 1.
Below is the EXIF data. Two entries seems to indicate the cause of the problem:
"Light Source = unknown"
"Flash = Flash fired, compulsory flash mode, return light not detected".
What do these two entries mean?
