audacity (freeware) will do this - just select "what you hear" as the input, play the DVD and hit 'record' on Audacity, then 'save as' mp3

btw, a friend of mine - an orchestral musician who also works as a sound guy in the movies just created his doctoral thesis, a french horn orchestral CD using Audacity.  He's had and used all the pro packages but found this little program did a lot the others couldn't :)
