At my son's charter school, the computer lab is entirely made up of Fedora 8 computers with Centos box as the server ( note, when using nfs, make sure you have more nfsd processes than clients ). The server also acts as the Windows PDC using samba (NT style domain, waiting for Samba 4) for the windows desktops/laptops that the teachers use. The windows boxes all have Openoffice and firefox installed. Most also have gimp and/org inkscape.
