Re: [OS:N:] RE: open-source-now-list Digest, Vol 29, Issue 1

Certainly there are other lists that are more active. For instance, there is
ubuntu-education-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (see https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-education)
Of course, this one is a little ubuntu-centric. Also, to be honest, the traffic on this one is not that high either.

The problem of course is that the usefulness of a discussion list is directly proportional to the number of people that visit it on a daily basis. This list (and many others besides) have probably dropped below the threshold necessary to sustain itself.

With all due respect to the fine people who started and sustained this and other discussion lists, I think it may be time for a _general_ call for consolidation. One mailing list to rule them all. I'm sure there's a website/organization/discussion-list out there that would be a good candidate. Would anyone like to volunteer some possibilities?

I realize that my suggestion may seem presumptuous, given that I only joined this list a few months ago. I apologize in advance for any hurt feelings.
