[OS:N:] Private data hidden in Microsoft files? | |
| [Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] | |
Hello, Some years ago Microsoft Word had a Save mode which would merrily put in your .doc file whatever was lying around in RAM in that moment: your financial statements, pieces of other confidential email or files, whatever. All was in plain view with an hex editor. The problem was partially fixed by an italian mailing list some days ago posted a link saying that some American/British politicians had been found to lie about something (Iraq?) because they had released .doc files containing pieces of text they supposedly did not know. Do you have pointers in english about this? In general, do you have URLS which I can quote where it is said for certain that this problem still exists in the current versions of word? I need certain information for a report I'm writing, which may be even published: hence, I need to check something like this ten or more times, to avoid troubles.
