************************************************************ NTSB ADVISORY ************************************************************ National Transportation Safety Board Washington, DC 20594 September 22, 2011 ************************************************************ NTSB TO MEET ON PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS, VESSEL COLLISIONS AND OIL SPILL ************************************************************ WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will hold a public Board meeting to discuss the final report of its investigation into the January 23, 2010, collision of Tankship Eagle Otome with Cargo Vessel Gull Arrow and subsequent collision with the Dixie Vengeance towboat in the Sabine-Neches Canal in Port Arthur, Texas. As a result of the tankship breach, an estimated 462,000 gallons of oil spilled into the water. The purpose of the meeting will be to determine the probable cause of the accident and to consider proposed safety recommendations. A synopsis of the report will appear on the website shortly after the conclusion of the Board meeting. The entire report will appear on the website within several weeks. From the Metro, exit L'Enfant Plaza station at 9th and D Streets escalator, walk through the shopping mall towards the CVS store (on the left). Due to construction at L'Enfant Plaza, the escalator that provides access to the Board Room level is out of service. Signs posted near the escalator will direct attendees to stairs leading to the Board Room. NTSB staff will also be stationed throughout L'Enfant Plaza to provide directions and alternate access.
