NTSB VICE CHAIRMAN INVITED TO SPEAK AT PA PRESS

CONFERENCE IN SUPPORT OF MOTORCYCLE SAFETY

Vice Chairman Christopher Hart will join Pennsylvania State Rep. Dan

Frankel at a press conference on Monday, May 23rd, at 11:00 am, in the Media

Center of the State Capital Building, 3rd Street and Commonwealth Avenue,

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. State Rep. Dan Frankel will introduce new

motorcycle helmet legislation and has invited Vice Chairman Christopher Hart

to participate in the announcement.

In 2009, there were 4,400 deaths as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Motorcycle fatalities account for 13 percent of highway deaths, while

motorcycles represent only 3 percent of vehicles on the road. The NTSB's

State Most Wanted List has consistently recommended that States to pass laws

to require everyone aboard a motorcycle be required to wear a helmet that

complies with DOT's Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218.
