NTSB ASSIST GOVERMNET OF BELIUM IN AVAIATION ACCIDENT

Washington, DC -- The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of investigators to assist the government of Belgium in its investigation of today's accident in which a Kalitta 747-200 (N704CK) crashed on takeoff after reporting a loud bang. 
 
There were four persons aboard the cargo airplane that departed Brussels, Belgium at 11:43 p.m. local time.  There are no reported injuries at this time.

NTSB investigator Joe Sedor has been designated as the U.S. Accredited Representative, and he will be accompanied by technical specialist in the areas of flight operations, aircraft systems, structures, and powerplants.  The U.S. team will also include technical advisors from the FAA, Boeing, and Pratt & Whitney.  

The Belgian government is leading the investigation and will release all information on its progress.
