weird.... i just blindly said, something non standard is implemented
in that drive...or at least in your motherboard...and somehow Linux
can't cope with that.

perhaps usb sniffing can tell more, but I am not USB guys.... sorry... Greg?

Yes, this sounds more like something for linux-kernel than kernelnewbies -- smells
badly of needing a quirk somewhere.
