Huge thanks mp4 now works. Also the mouse pointer is not trapped
inside the mplayer window as always happened before with any picture,
this is a great improvement.
Installed libxv-dev like you said and recompiled #

You know it is perhaps a bit irritating for you hackers but it saves
me a vast amount of work. So thanks again.
Incidentally also needed: apt-get install libvdpau-dev . Using
nvidia proprietary drivers.
