change password error

Hello,

 

Running RH 9.0 with all the latest patches. I am trying to change the
password of one of our users and I am getting the following error when I
try, logged on as root. 'passwd: Authentication token manipulation error' I
am not running LDAP or NIS so I am not sure what this is. It does not happen
on any other accounts.

 

Any ideas would, as always, be much appreciated.
