Thanx to Cody Collier and Kevin "Korbinator" Korb. Both pointed me towards "losetup" which was just a matter of running: # losetup /dev/loop0 /tmp/myimage.dd # e2fsck -y -v /dev/loop0 Kevin also pointed out that since my filesystem was already mounted read-only, I could run fsck on the loopback device in use as well. I actually did so using "e2fsck -n -v" options to "look at what was wrong" before umounting and using losetup proper. It's funny. I've always taken note of losetup, but never knew what it was used for. Now I know. -- Bryan J.
