After trying a few different ideas with autofs, the best choice for my needs came from Harald Husemann, which was to just use amd! I am now using amd for my /net automounting needs, and autofs for all my regular Solaris style automount maps (/home, etc). One other thing worth noting is that several people did tell me that autofs v4 beta supported this feature. Unfortunately, it also requires a recompile of the kernel (thanks /dev/null !), among other things, which isn't really an option in my case. Thanks to everyone who responded! -----Original Message----- Subject: Solaris /net implementation in RH Linux with autofs? Hello, I have been looking everywhere to find an example of a Linux machine using autofs to mount other machines on the network and their exports in /net. My temporary solution has been to simply add each machine into /etc/fstab and mounting them at /net/<machine_name>. Unfortunately, this solution is unacceptable when you take into account the number of machines that I would have to explicity list. Can anyone give an example of getting this to work for Linux in the same way it works in Solaris? -----/Original Message----- _______________________________________________ LinuxManagers mailing list - http://www.linuxmanagers.org submissions: LinuxManagers@linuxmanagers.org subscribe/unsubscribe: http://www.linuxmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/linuxmanagers
