Hi Linux-Managers, I had RedHat 8.0 with the default kernel 2.4.18. Then I installed the kernel 2.4.20, downloded from the kernel.org. But after booting with the new kernel 2.4.20, I was unable to locate many configuration files. Whereas, if I am restarting the system with the old kernel 2.4.18, I am able to see the files are in-tact. What is the theory behind it and how to resolve it. Please give me a lead.
