root passwd recovery: more info

Hi:

The boot loader is LILO, and I do not have access to the install cd or a boot
floppy. When I boot up, the system boots into X so fast that I can barely see
the LILO prompt. I have tried pressing the TAB key with no luck, and booting
into Interactive mode still requires the root passwd to do anything.

Any more ideas? Is there a recovery floppy that can handle reiserfs out there?

Thanks
