root passwd recovery

Hi:
I have just been given a linux box, and I have no idea what the root passwd 
is. I can login with the only regular user account. This is a Mandrake 8.x 
box with reiserfs so Tomsrtbt can't handle it.

Any root passwd recovery ideas will be appreciated.
