Hi managers, maybe this is a quite simple question, but can't figure it out... Searched the www, the sendmail-howto, and still have no idea what to do. I just want my MTA, running sendmail (version $Id: proto.m4,v 8.247 1999/02/20 21:58:33 ca due to sendmail.cf) on an old SuSE 6.4, to take care of MX-records when sending mail. (YES, I know it's old - but I don't want to upgrade at the moment, it's a really important machine...) I have an ADSL-connection to the internet, so I don't want to use a mail-relay - just let my MTA process the mails and send it direct to the other MTAs. (Had some problems with my mail-relay in the past - used one of the german telekom, and they rewrite the sender adress to something not very nice, :-) ) So, how can I tell sendmail to ask the DNS for the mx-record for all domains, and send the mails to this MTA? Since I changed sendmail.cf myself, I don't want to rebuild it using m4 - just want to add one or more lines to sendmail.cf to get it working... At the moment, when I switch off relaying, sendmail just sends the mail to e.g. cityweb.de, without taking care of the MX-record, which points to mail.cityweb.de - of course, this doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks for your help, keep on hackin', Harald P.S.: Had to re-post this query from my office, since the relay I'm using rewrites the sender adress (as stated above) - so, the mailman bounced my post, 'cause he didn't found the sender address. Seems to be a serious problem, so I'd like to resolve it... -- ======================================================= Dipl. Ing.
