Summary:
For the most part everyone was very friendly and quick to offer solutions.
Of course everyone pointed to kernel.org for source. Some suggested just
plain don't do it, unfortunately this was not an option. Everything seemed
to compile pretty smoothly.

commands
gunzipped and untared.
make xconfig
choose processor ,etc.
make dep; make;
make modules modules_install install

Question:
