And we have a winner!

	xsetroot -cursor_name left_ptr

He also pointed out that restarting X wouldn't cost me my uptime.  This
is true but I currently have 4 Mozilla's with about 5 tabs each, log
monitoring windows, email, draft letters, spreadsheets, etc..  

	 ps ux|wc -l  ==>  121

It is good to have 1GB of RAM!  8-)

Other suggestions included xset which included mouse acceleration and
threshold parameters but no pointers/cursors. And mouseconfig (issued
both from the command line and through DrakConf) - which I tried before
I ever wrote to the list,
