Sorry for the late summary. I apologize if I missed anyone. Thanks, -Dan Bishop My querying of hte module suggests that you may set half-duplex by setting a var iable 'full_deplex' to 0. options 3c59x full_deplex=0 Drop that into modules.conf, depmod -a, and cause your modules to unload and rel oad (easiest: reboot). Kain This is usually a card-specific setting, but there are two tool that attempt (an d usually succeed) in making this generic: mii-tool ethtool Toens Bueker http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html A list of configuration options for module-loading is included Yura Pismerov Can be done with "options" in /etc/xonf.modules. Read doc for your network card driver Jeffrey Taylor You should be able to run mii-tool from the boot script. Calvin Dodge According to http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html, it looks like you want th e following line in /etc/modules.conf: options eth0 options=0 full_duplex=0 Bill Bacher One way is to use the utility mii-diag found in the diag-ether-2.0-3 RPM. It all ows you to force a port to a certain speed and to set the duplex mode. Frank Smith Use mii-diag (it can both query and set speed/duplex). I'm not sure if RedHat in cludes an rpm, but it is widely available on the net. Your performance would be much better if you ran full-duplex, assuming you're co nnecting your server to a switch and not a hub. If you are using a hub, I would seriously consider replacing it with a switch, especially since switches have be come almost as cheap as hubs lately (at least the unmanaged switches, you can ge t an unmanaged autosensing 10/100 16-port switch for around $65). Johon H. Caicedo O. With RedHat-7.2 you can install a tool called ethtool (it's on the installation CDs), it allows you to tweak some NIC settings, something like: # ethtool eth0 speed 10 duplex half Usually work with new network adapters.
