ethereal problem

I tried to use 'ethereal' the other day and had a problem.  When I start
'ethereal' from the command line, it just exits immediately with no error
indication whatsoever.  I check log files and found nothing there.  I
checked to make sure that all packages on which 'ethereal' depends are
installed, and they are.

Anyone have any ideas?
