A fellow admin and I are trying to setup remote syslogging to a central log server. We have gotten a log client to log to /var/log/messages on the central log server, but we are unsure if you can somehow specify what log file you want the messages to go to. We have setup router remote logging using local assignments, but we cannot seem to find the way to do this for servers. We have thought we could write a script that periodically moves entries for each box and moves it to a file, but you run into the issue of integrity: syslog was written to make sure it writes correct log entries while our script may not. Any ideas? Even a third-party program would do....
