Does Linux Do multitasking at kernel level?

Hi Managers,

   This is really a question out of the scope of this mailing list but I am
   not able to stop asking this question! 

   Does linux do pre-emptive multitasking at kernel level?. 

   In otherwords I want to know whether the kernel modules are multitasked?
