I am having some serious issues w/ NIS on a cluster I am working on. It takes as long as 15 seconds to get to a prompt after you enter your password. If I disable NIS everything works fine. The NIS/NFS server is a Sun 4500 class server w/ 8 Procs and 8 GB of memory. The boxes are dual proc'd, 1GB, EEPRO 100 running Red Hat 7.2 (2.4.7-10smp kernel). Snoop on the Solaris box shows that on the Linux side I am getting hesitations. I started Stracing the linux side but ran out of time today so I will hit the ground running in the AM. Angel R.
