Direct automount maps on RedHat 7.2

Greetings,

I am using RedHat 7.2 automount with NIS maps and everything works
except for the direct map.  I can see that there is an automount
process associated with "/-", but nothing mounts from that map.  The
auto.direct map that I am using works on all my Solaris machines.  Are
direct automount maps broken in RedHat?  Thanks.
