You don't mount a keyboard or mouse, so that step is not needed in
those cases (or any case, if you mount manually)

I have not tried a keyboard or mouse with H-E-N, but I have used
several flash drives and external HDDs with no problems. Maybe tonight
when I am home I'll try to connect a keyboard.
Also try using an externally-powered USB hub.
But then you need a power supply right? Thats not ideal when traveling with train for example...
Are there keybd which are known to work without such a externally powered hub?
Or is a bluetooth a better option?
