This southbridge is known to have USB problems, as the hardware has bugs
in it.  There are changes in 2.6.27 that should resolve this issue.

Can you try 2.6.27-rc5 and verify that you still have problems or not?
I should be getting ahold of a machine with this chipset next week so
that I can test this out myself.
