I've never used ArcServe.. Sorry, I can't help troubleshoot at that level.
Can you run a "sg_modes -p=0x1d /dev/sgXX" against the library and
supply the output pls.
It will return the raw data of number/location of each element type.
ArcServe should be using this OP code to determine the internal
configuration of a robot..
